Funeral ceremonies for 49 victims of the Treblinka I Labour Camp.

On 21 October, a funeral ceremony was held at the Execution Site within the Treblinka Museum to bury the remains of 49 Victims of the Treblinka I Labour Camp. The remains were discovered during surface works conducted under the supervision of a prosecutor from the Branch Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation in Szczecin, between 12 and 29 November 2019, at the Execution Site. These were Victims of unidentified nationality and faith, murdered by the Germans or who died from exhaustion or disease during their imprisonment in the Treblinka I Labour Camp. During the ceremony, the Victims’ remains were laid to rest in a grave, accompanied by prayers led by Rabbi Michael Schudrich and Bishop Piotr Sawczuk of the Diocese of Drohiczyn. A monument has been erected at the site to commemorate the victims, who have now been buried with due respect and dignity.
