The book “The Jews in Siedlce 1850-1945”

We are pleased to invite you to read the book “The Jews in Siedlce 1850-1945” written by Edward Kopówka, PhD, the Director of the Treblinka Museum. The book chronicles the life of the Jewish community of Siedlce from the second half of the 19th century to the 20th century. The publication contains information about the social and political life of the Jews in Siedlce as well as a description of Jewish political parties and cultural and educational associations that operated in Siedlce. One of the chapters presents the German occupation of Poland and the extermination of Jews in Siedlce. The work also includes many previously unpublished archival materials, including a map of the Siedlce Ghetto as well as Bracha Kahan’s stories depicting Jewish life and the atmosphere of old Siedlce.

The Polish version of the book (original title: “Żydzi w Siedlcach 1850-1945”) was published in 2009, the English version of “the Jews in Siedlce 1980-1945) was published in 2014 thanks to the cooperation with JewishGen, Inc.
