Commemorating the 83rd anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising

At 12:00 noon, sirens sounded throughout the capital, commemorating the 83rd anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. It was a symbolic moment of remembrance of one of the most significant acts of resistance by the Jewish population during World War II.

The central ceremonies took place at the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes, where wreaths were laid and tribute was paid to the participants of the uprising. In remembering the heroes, we honor not only their courage, but also their dignity and humanity in the face of unimaginable suffering.

Among those who took part in the commemorations were President Karol Nawrocki, Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty, Senate Marshal Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, and the Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski. Also present were the management of our institution: Director Edward Kopówka and Deputy Director Albert Stankowski.

Following the ceremonies, the March of Remembrance began. Participants walked past monuments and sites connected with the history of the ghetto: along L. Zamenhof Street to the Szmul Zygielbojm Monument and the Anielewicz Bunker, and then along S. Dubois and Stawki Streets to the Umschlagplatz Monument.
