Dear Readers,
We invite you to participate in the new Treblinka Museum project “Memory of the Place.” The aim of the project is to bring the history closer and commemorate the Jews murdered at the German Nazi Extermination Camp Treblinka II. Participants in the “Memory of the Place” project can include any individuals or organizations involved in learning about and popularizing the history of their communities, where a Jewish population resided before World War II. We welcome collaboration from all interested parties from the localities from which Jews were deported to the German Nazi Extermination Camp Treblinka II.
The project will be carried out in two stages:
Stage I: In the participating town
Stage II: At the Treblinka Museum
In Stage I, local historians and enthusiasts will have the opportunity, during a meeting in their town, to present the history of the local Jewish community – from its establishment to the outbreak of World War II, including its wartime fate and the final stage: the deportation to the SS-Sonderkommando Treblinka.
In Stage II, the museum staff will explain the history of the German Nazi Extermination Camp Treblinka II. Participants will be guided by a museum guide through the grounds of the former camp and will learn about the symbolism of the commemoration. The project will conclude at the memorial stone bearing the name of the respective town.
