His literary output includes more than twenty books and about a thousand texts printed in about seventy magazines, published mainly in the Warsaw press. In 1926, Korczak became the creator and animator of the unique magazine <i>Ma\u0142y Przegl\u0105d<\/i> [<i>Little Review<\/i>].<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">Korczak\u2019s literary debut took place on 26 September 1896. He published his first humoresque entitled <i>The Gordian knot<\/i> [<i>W\u0119ze\u0142 Gordyjski<\/i>] in <i>The Thorns<\/i> [<i>Kolce<\/i>] (No. 39) under the pen name Hen. In this satirical text he presented a picture of hearth and home where parents are replaced by, among others, nannies and governesses. The aim of the humoresque was to encourage parents to take a more serious interest in bringing up their children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">Henryk Goldszmit received his first distinction in 1899 for his play entitled <i>Which way?<\/i> [<i>Kt\u00f3r\u0119dy?]<\/i> submitted for the I.J. Paderewski Literary Contest. He used Janasz Korczak as a pen name for the drama (taken from J\u00f3zef Ignacy Kraszewski\u2019s book <i>Janasz Korczak and the Pretty Swordsweeperlady<\/i> [<i>Historia o Janaszu Korczaku i pi\u0119knej Miecznik\u00f3wnie<\/i>], but the press mistakenly printed the name Janusz and from then on he used this form.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">The play <i>Which way?<\/i> [<i>Kt\u00f3r\u0119dy?<\/i>] is a drama in four acts. Its main protagonist is the father of the family, depicted as an irritated man. The text of the play <i>Which way?<\/i> has not survived.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>In 1937, Janusz Korczak received the Golden Laurel of the Polish Academy of Literature for his outstanding literary work.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">Korczak\u2019s first novel is <i>Children of the Streets<\/i> [<i>Dzieci ulicy]<\/i>. It was published in episodes in 1901 in the magazine <i>Czytelnia dla Wszystkich<\/i>. <i>Tygodnik literacko-powie\u015bciowy dla rodzin polskich<\/i>. The novel shows the life of children from Warsaw streets known from the author\u2019s observations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">The first stories for children were published in <i>Family Evenings<\/i> [<i>Wieczory Rodzinne]<\/i> under the pen name Janusz and Janusz Korczak. It included the following texts: <i>What do toys say<\/i> [<i>Co m\u00f3wi\u0105 zabawki?]<\/i>, <i>The nicest gift<\/i> [<i>Najmilszy podarek]<\/i>, <i>A chat<\/i> [<i>Pogaw\u0119dka<\/i>], <i>Moving house<\/i> [<i>Przeprowadzka<\/i>].<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>The peak period of Henryk Goldszmit\u2019s literary activity falls in the years 1918-1931.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">The writer\u2019s last work was <i>Playful pedagogy<\/i> [<i>Pedagogika \u017cartobliwa]<\/i> of 1939. In this publication Korczak presented the situation of a child in society in a funny and humorous form. He drew adults\u2019 attention to respecting the \u201cchild\u2019s right to respect\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">Korczak\u2019s last notes are included in the <i>Diary<\/i> [<i>Pami\u0119tnik]<\/i> of 1942. They were created in the Warsaw ghetto in the period from May to August. It is an autobiographical document constituting the \u201cvoice of Korczak\u2019s protest against the cruelty of the Nazi occupiers towards children, adults, cut off from the rest of the city, from the world\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">He also carried out his pedagogical activity through numerous speeches and lectures, among others, at the Professional Association of Teachers of Primary Schools he gave a lecture entitled <i>Discipline in class<\/i> [<i>Dyscyplina w klasie]<\/i> (1925) and <i>Student government<\/i> [<i>Samorz\u0105d szkolny<\/i>] (1928), and in the premises of the \u201cTarbut\u201d Society he spoke about <i>The personal life of the educator<\/i> [<i>\u017bycie osobiste wychowawcy<\/i>] (1925). He took part in collective lectures organised by various Jewish organisations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">Korczak\u2019s works were intended to sensitize society to the harm done to children, to the lack of understanding of children\u2019s problems by the adult world, and to draw parents\u2019 attention to the reasons for their failure to bring up children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9797\" src=\"http:\/\/muzeumtreblinka.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/tworczosc_korczaka_grafika.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"196\" height=\"291\" \/>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\" title=\"\">Bibliography<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>M.
